NEW YORK (Jan. 5, 2023) -- The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is now accepting nominations for the 94th AAU James E. Sullivan Award. This prestigious award has been presented annually since 1930 to the most outstanding athlete at the collegiate or Olympic level in the United States.
In addition to athletic excellence, the AAU Sullivan award also aims to recognize the qualities of leadership, citizenship, character and sportsmanship on and off the field.
To nominate an athlete for the 94th AAU James E. Sullivan Award, please fill out this form. The AAU is looking for nominations of athletes at the collegiate or Olympic level who competed in 2022-2023 and/or 2023-2024.
Please note that nominations will close Friday, February 2, 2024.
Prior winners of this historic award include Caitlin Clark (basketball), Carl Lewis (track and field), Bill Walton (basketball), Michael Phelps (swimming), Simone Biles (gymnastics), Shawn Johnson (gymnastics), Peyton Manning (football), Ezekiel Elliott (football), Michelle Kwan (figure skating), and Caeleb Dressel (swimming). Voting to determine the award finalists will open in February, followed by another round of voting in March to determine the winner. The winner will be announced at the 94th AAU James E. Sullivan Award ceremony at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) on April 23, 2024.
