ORLANDO, Fla. (May 3, 2022)
– The AAU Track and Field Indoor season concluded on March 13, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia with the AAU Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Twenty-one hundred (2,100) athletes participated with hopes of taking home gold. One runner took home gold and much more.

AAU member, KaMauriyen Bush is a 12-year-old sprinter with the True Runners Track Club. At the 2022 AAU Indoor Track & Field National Championships, not only would he take home gold, but he would also break a record for his age group!

Bush began running in AAU events in 2018. At the age of 9, he would participate in the 60 meter hurdles at the AAU Primary and Club National Championships. In only his first race, Bush came in 3rd place at a national event. This year, he was able to continue to improve his placement and improve his time. Coach Phillip Bush, the head coach for the True Runners Track Club, introduced his team to the indoor track scene for the first time in 2022.

In his first AAU Indoor National Championship event, KaMauriyen Bush went on to break the AAU 12 year old 60m Hurdle indoor record. Peyton Jones, with team Track 7-5-7, previously held the record time of 9.71 seconds, which was set in 2017. KaMauriyen Bush, in the 60m hurdle final, ran a blistering 9.49 seconds and put his name in the record book with a new fastest time!

KaMauriyen Bush believes that hard work, consistency, and perseverance are the three biggest attributes that helped him accomplish this amazing milestone. Everyone at AAU is incredibly proud of your accomplishments KaMauriyen. Keep striving for greatness!
