AAU and ACO are coming together for the Junior World Championships

OWENSBORO, Ky. (January 30, 2024) – The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) has been raising champions since 1888, and now we are teaming with the American Cornhole Organization (ACO) to continue that tradition. This summer, the AAU and ACO will host the World Championships of Cornhole for youth athletes.

July 19 and 20 at the Owensboro Convention Center in Kentucky, the AAU/ACO Junior World Championships of Cornhole will throw down. This is a chance for youth athletes to start playing competitive cornhole and take this fun game to the next level.

Boys and girls will have the opportunity to compete and earn an ACO World Ranking and have a chance to win an AAU/ACO world title. Athletes will be split into groups based on age: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. There will be a Singles tournament, Doubles Tier 1 and Tier 2 tournament, and a Quads tournament. Athletes that come out on top will receive medals, jerseys, and ribbons.

One player from each division will also win a custom award for the best overall performance in all three tournaments (Singles, Doubles, and Quads). The first competition bag will be tossed on Friday, July 19. In the morning, the Singles tournament will begin round robin play. In the afternoon, Doubles Tier 1 and Tier 2 will have double elimination for the top 16 teams. And in the evening, a random Tier 1 team will be paired with a Tier 2 team to create the Quads double-elimination tournament. Champions will be crowned and a special challenge will be announced on Saturday, July 20.
