SAVANNAH, Ga. (January 10, 2024)
– AAU College Hockey, College Hockey South and the Savannah Sports Council are bringing the original four back together for the 25th annual Savannah Hockey Classic. The biggest college hockey tournament in the south is heading to Savannah, Georgia at Enmarket Arena on January 12 – 13, 2024.

This year we are going to back to the four teams that competed in the first ever Savannah Classic during the 1998-99 season. The Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Tennessee Volunteers will take to the ice and settle a score in a battle that spans 25-plus years. Who has the best hockey team in the south?

Games will kick off on Friday night with the 3rd place game and championship game being played Saturday evening. The defending champs, Florida Gators, will be the first to take the ice as they go head-to-head against the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday at 6:00 pm. Puck drop for the Georgia vs Georgia Tech rivalry will happen directly after at 8:30.

The winners of each game will skate on to the title matchup. The 3rd place game will take place on Saturday at 5:30 pm with the Championship game being decided right after. Of the original four, the Georgia Bulldogs lead the way, winning the Savannah Classic nine (9) times since since 1999. But the Florida Gators are poised to defend their crown.

The commissioner of College Hockey South, Kyle Knell, is excited to bring back the Savannah Hockey Classic for the 25th year.

“This year’s tournament will be extra special,” Knell said. “This is the 25th tournament. We have a new format where we will have an official championship game and no more tiebreakers. We’re back to the original four teams, and we get to kick off the ECHL All-Star week. We have a lot planned for the fans and are looking forward to another successful event.”
