AAU Cross Country heads to Tallahassee, FL for the first time since 2020 for the AAU Cross Country National Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 29, 2023) -- The top cross country runners from around the country will be converging soon on Florida’s capital city for the 2023 AAU Cross Country National Championships.
 
On Saturday, December 2, competitors of all ages will be off and running through Apalachee Regional Park just east of Tallahassee. The site is one of the nation’s few specifically designed for cross country running.
 
This year marks the third time that Tallahassee has hosted the AAU Cross Country National Championships, having also played host in 2016 and 2020. Over 1,400 athletes from 32 states will be competing, along with competitors from Bermuda, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

"We are excited for another great AAU National Championship meet at one of the top courses in the country. The athletes are always excited for this course and we look forward to a great event," said Chad Culver, National Meet Director.

 
Athletes will be separated into eight (8) divisions: 6 & under Boys and Girls, 7-8 year old Boys and Girls, 9-10 year old Boys and Girls, 11-12 year old Boys and Girls, 13-14 year old Boys and Girls, 15-18 year old Boys and Girls, Open/Masters Division, and the AAU Parents/Coaches Run.
 
The race schedule will be kicked off by the Open/Masters Division running a 5K at 8:20 a.m. Following them will be the 15-18 year old division’s 5K, 13-14 year old 4K, 11-12 year old 3K, 9-10 year old 3K, 7-8 year old 2K, and the 6 & under 1K. The event will be capped off by the AAU Parents/Coaches competing in a 3K run.
 
AAU National Championship medals will be awarded to the first twenty-five (25) individual places based on year of birth for all age divisions. A team trophy will be presented to the 1st - 3rd place teams in each age division (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18 divisions only), and AAU National Championship medals will be presented to each member of the top three (3) teams.   All American patches will be presented to the top 8 individual finishers in each age division, and an Overall Team Champion will be crowned!
