Texas Southern University becomes first collegiate partner with the program

HOUSTON (January 4, 2023) – AAU Track and Field is launching an internship program for college students.

The Motivate & Educate (ME) Program seeks to motivate athletes in athletics and academics. The program will serve to educate students about the fundamentals in the various disciplines of the sport and to develop and enhance life skills.

“Our vision is to develop a holistic approach for the individual development of youth in America,” said Charles “Coach O” Oliver, AAU Second Vice President and Track and Field National Chair. “We want to develop tomorrow’s leaders, today. Internships with organizations like the AAU provide students with real-world experience to enable their dreams to come true.”

Texas Southern University’s School of Communication is the first collegiate program to partner with the ME Program. AAU Track and Field will work with the school to develop student outreach about the program as well as recruit potential candidates.

“We have dynamic students in the Texas Southern University School of Communication that will tremendously benefit from the opportunities and experiences AAU Track and Field will be affording,” said Clyde Duncan, Jr., Internship Coordinator for the School of Communication. “Thank you, AAU Track and Field, for this awesome opportunity to establish a productive presence for our students, and thank you for your passion for the matriculation of our students through experiential learning."

Texas Southern University is one of the nation’s largest historically Black universities. Located in Houston, it’s committed to ensuring equality, offering innovative programs, and transforming diverse students into lifelong learners, engaged citizens, and creative leaders in their communities.

The AAU is proud to partner with the university, as both companies’ values align. The AAU is dedicated to the physical, mental, and moral development of amateur athletes and promotes good sportsmanship and citizenship.
