PREVIEW: 2019 AAU Basketball Spring Classic

Spring has sprung in Orlando, Florida as AAU hosts their annual boys’ basketball AAU Spring Classic. This year approximately 1,900 athletes from 161 teams will participate in the event.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Spring has sprung in Orlando, Florida as the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) hosts their annual boys’ basketball AAU Spring Classic. This year approximately 1,900 athletes from 161 teams will participate in the event. Competitors will range from 8U to freshman in high school and hail from four different eastern states, as well as the Bahamas.
 
Games will take place at both ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orlando Sports Center. Early registration will begin on Thursday, April 11 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the northeast pavilion of the Arena, continuing on Friday, April 12 from 2 – 9:30 p.m. Pool play will start on Friday with single elimination starting on Saturday, April 13. Sunday will wrap up bracket play with an award ceremony to follow.
 
The 16U Treasure Coast Titans Red will be in the hunt for another championship match up after winning the D1 championship game in 2018. The 12U St. Cloud Kings and the 7th grade G1 are looking for back-to-back wins in their divisions. The Manatee 17U PAL will also be focusing on another championship run. 13U Hoops Dreams Elite, 8th grade Kissimmee Allstars, 16U Jax Mavs and the 16U St. Cloud Titans will be seeking for redemption this year after finishing runner up in their respective divisions in 2018.
