ORLANDO, FL (August 16, 2017) - Sports Travel Magazine's annual sports travel awards are given out to the very best sporting events run throughout the year.
The 2017 AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championships is nominated in the category of Amateur - Best Single-Sport Event and as all the nominees are, for overall Best Sports Event of the Year.
Since 2012, the event has held the Guinness Book of World Records spot for most teams competing at a volleyball event. Each year it has broken this record: the 2017 event drew 2,438 teams to the Central Florida area with an estimated economic impact of more than $52 million.
The event has garnered numerous awards including Sports Destination Management's Champions of Economic Impact, SportsEvents Magazine's Sports Event Planners to Watch, and the National Association of Sports Commissions Sports Event Organizer of the Year.
