The AAU mourns the passing of Robert “Bob” Martin, age 75, of East China, Michigan. He was the husband of current AAU National Secretary, AAU Wrestling Committee member and longtime Michigan AAU district officer,Cynthia Trombly-Martin.

Mr. Martin proudly served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force on the U.S.S. Hardtlead SS-365. He was a member of the Holland Club, a special group of members of the United States Submarine Veterans who have been designated "Qualified in Submarines" by the United States Navy for fifty (50) or more years. Members of the Holland Club have displayed the attributes of Pride, Past, Present, Patriotism, Honor, Duty, Commitment, Professionalism, Courage and Leadership.

Mr. Martin was an avid sportsman and loved speed – be it cars, boats, fishing, target shooting, traveling or photography.

In 2015, Mr. Martin spearheaded bringing the sport of target shooting to the AAU.

Besides being a member of the AAU, he was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, the Perch Pointe Conservation Club and crew member of Off Shore Power Boat Racing’s, “Team Believer” a national champion for three years in a row (1989, 1990 and 1991).

Most of all, Mr. Martin was a family man: Beloved husband of Cynthia and the late Constance. Dear father of Scott (Marilynn) Martin and Barbara (David) Ludowese. Step-father of Dennis (Deborah) Trombly, Jenifer (Christopher) Kalebjian, Derek Trombly, and Dustin (Klara) Trombly. Dear grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dear Brother of Sandra Cowell and Edward (Patricia) Martin. Dear son of the late Edward and Jean Martin.
