RECAP: 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships

RECAP: 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships

After 11 days of great competition, the 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships have come to a close. The event kicked off with Opening Ceremonies on June 15th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. The Opening Ceremonies celebration had everything from the Parade of Champions to fireworks, with a visit from a very special guest, the one and only Mickey Mouse.

The following day, competition kicked off at both ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center. The first four days featured divisions from every age group except for 16U and 17U, which played later in the week. On the fourth day of competition, the championship games were featured at both venues, with some of the games at ESPN Wide World of Sports broadcasted on ESPN3.

Next up was the 17U division, 15 Classic and 18 Club and Classic. After three days of intense pool play, the top two teams of each division faced off against each other in the championship game.

To cap off the tournament, the 16U divisions took over the Convention Center and the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. They rounded out the last day of the event with some pretty impressive championship game play.
