Pilot Program

The Age Based National Championships (8U-14U) were a great success in 2015 and will continue to be offered this summer.  For the segment of our AAU membership that wants to keep their teams grade based, the AAU has something to offer you in 2016.

Photo ID IS NOW REQUIRED AT NATIONAL EVENTS

2016 PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY

Beginning in 2016 all athletes must provide one of the following proof of eligibility documents at the National Championship events.  Non-compliance with the new proof of eligibility rule will result in players being disqualified. 

1. Valid Passport

2. Valid Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit

3. Military ID card

4. Dept. of Motor Vehicles State Identification card

**New Method**

5. A current school picture ID in addition to an original raised seal birth certificate (if your school does not issue I.D. cards, download our School I.D. Verification Form, complete it and have it verified by your school administrator). 

 

  
PLEASE NOTE: The eligibility date for 2016 is August 31, 2016. Please use the 2016 Rule Book for determining eligibility for the 2016 Membership Year!

Central State University coach James Rollins leans on AAU experience at the next level

Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio) track and field coach James Rollins started his coaching career with youth athletes competing in events hosted by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). 

Director of the Total Effect Sports Academy in Columbus, Ohio, Rollins started the program in 2008 with his then-wife to reach inner city youth and teach them about track and field, being healthy and the fundamentals of the sport. He credits his experience with AAU for helping to prepare him for life as a college coach.
