AAU is excited to announce that it is AAU Sullivan time again! Today, November 1st the AAU will begin taking nominations for the 84th Annual Sullivan Award! Known as the " Oscar" of sports awards, and older than The Heisman, the AAU Sullivan Award honors the outstanding amateur athlete in the United States. It has been presented annually by the AAU since 1930 as a salute to founder and past president of the Amateur Athletic Union, and a pioneer in amateur sports, James E. Sullivan. Based on the qualities of leadership, character, sportsmanship, and the ideals of amateurism, the AAU Sullivan Award goes far beyond athletic accomplishments and honors those who have shown strong moral character.

The 84th Sullivan Award winner will be in great company as past recipients are some of the most prestigious athletes of all time. Flo-Jo, Bruce Jenner, Michelle Kwan, Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow and Shawn Johnson are just a few of the famous athletes to receive the Sullivan Award. The most recent Sullivan recipient from 2012 was Missy Franklin, the most decorated female athlete of the 2012 London Olympics!
