AAU Track member wins AAU Champion of Year

Lake Buena Vista, FL-- Congratulations to Alexis Clark for being named the 2012 AAU Champion of the Year sponsored by Champion.

Clark was one of six finalists going head to head for the coveted title November 26- December 2. The photo with the most votes by Sunday, December 2 at 11:59 EST was crowned the champion and winner of a duffle bag full of Champion apparel.

The AAU Champion of the Year contest began back in mid-May with our AAU champion of the Wee promotion. Members had the chance to submit photos weekly from out at their AAU events and rally friends and family to vote for their photo on the AAU Facebook page. The photo with the most votes at the end of each week was crowned the AAU Champion of the Week.

In all, 24 athletes were crowned AAU Champion of the Week and were entered into one of two AAU Champion of the Year semi final rounds. With 12 contestants squaring off in each semi final, we found our six AAU Champion of the Year finalists.

Clark won with a total of 303 votes. Lucas Bourgoyne came in a close second (214 votes), followed by Laikyn Kulman (167 votes).

Congratulations again to all who entered this year! You are all champions! We can't wait for 2013 and see all the great things AAU members will accomplish.
