AAU Internship Program

The AAU offers internships at its National Headquarters in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, providing on-the-job learning experiences for college students.  Our internships offer participants the opportunity to gain experience in their chosen field of study.

The AAU offers the following internship positions:

  • AAU Junior Olympic Games
  • Event Operations – All Sports – Emphasis on events hosted at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
  • Photography/Video
  • Programmer
  • Social Media
  • Sports – Athletics, Baseball, Basketball & Volleyball

Intern Qualifications


To qualify as an intern, students must:
  • Be in good academic standing and a part or full time student
  • Be completed with their Sophomore year
  • Have great oral and written communication skills.
  • Meet minimum qualifications and requirements of the position.
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S. for any company.
  • Be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or graduate degree program - Sports Management/Administration, Business, Recreation, Physical Education, Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Photography, Videography or similar field.

Reviews/Evaluations


The job performance of fall interns / evaluated twice during the semester and summer interns are evaluated twice during the 12-week internship.  The Internship Program Cordinator performs a midway and final evaluation.  Fall and spring interns will receive a final evaluation at the termination of their part time internship.  In AAU’s effort to grow and improve the intern program, each intern is asked to provide feedback and program summary at the completion of his or her work assignment.

The Application Process – What to Expect


AAU encourages qualified candidates to apply for open positions.  Your resume will be reviewed and considered for the open position for which you have applied.  In the event that your qualifications and experience match with the requirements of the position, you will be contacted by an AAU representative.

Due to the high number and volume of resumes and applications the AAU receives, we are not able to directly contact everyone who applies.

Summer 2012
 Resume Submission Deadline – March 16th
   Interviews – April 2nd – 13th
   Selections – April 23rd – 27th
   Start Date – May 14th
   End Date – mid-August
   
Fall 2012
Resume Submission Deadline - August 3rd
 
Interviews – August 6th - 10th
 
Start Date – September 10th
 
End Date – December 7th

Spring 2013
Resume Submission Deadline – December 7th
 
Interviews – December 10th – 14th
 
Start Date – January 14th
 
End Date – April 19th

Summer 2013
Resume Submission Deadline – March 15th
 
Interviews – April 1st – 12th
 
Selections – April 22nd – 26th
 
Start Date – May 13th
 
End Date – mid-August
