What is the AAU?

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. Find out more about the AAU.

How can I find out about upcoming AAU events?

Finding an Event in the AAU is easy, click here and follow the simple instructions.

 

 

 
Can I register to become a member of the AAU online?

Yes! Go to the Membership section.

 

 

 
Do I have to be a member of the AAU to participate in an event?

Yes. All participants [athletes and non-athletes (Administrator, Bench Personnel, Coach, Instructor, Manager, Team Leader, Tournament Director, Volunteer, Other)] must be current AAU members to participate in AAU sanctioned events.

Instant registration for AAU membership is available online. A credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) is needed. Membership in AAU allows an athlete to participate in all of the AAU sport programs. Just register and print out your card.

When I'm registering for membership, there's a space for
"Club Number"/"Club Name". What do I need to put there?

If you know your club name, place it in the space provided. If you are not sure or a team is not applicable to your sport, leave the space blank. Your membership application will be processed.

 

 

 
By joining the AAU, am I automatically placed on a team?

The AAU is operated by volunteers. The AAU relies on the community and community leaders to organize teams. The AAU will attempt to assist athletes find a team; however, the responsibilty rests with the athletes not the AAU. Click here for suggestions on how to Find a Team.

 

 

 
By joining the AAU, am I automatically registered to participate in an event?

No. Event registration is separate. You must contact an event operator to enter. Click here to Find an Event.

 

 
 
How do we qualify for a National Championship or an Invitational Tournament?

Qualification for National Championships or Invitational Tournaments is different for each sport as defined by sport committee rules.

How do I find Travel and Hotel information for the National Tournaments?

In the national tournament entry packet, you'll find a number to contact for hotel and travel information for each event.

If I'm coming to Orlando for an AAU event, can I get discounted tickets
for the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks?

Yes! You may obtain discounted tickets to the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks if your event is taking place at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex.

How can I get a list of the AAU rules for my sport?

Check your sport's web page for a copy of the sport rules.

 

 

 
How can I get a directory of AAU Employees, Contacts, and Volunteers?

The Contact Us page has e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and addresses for all AAU National Staff. Contact your District office for a list of volunteers and contacts in your area.

Also, on most sport websites, you can find a listing of District Sports Directors.

Or, call the National AAU Office and your call will be directed to the appropriate party: 407-934-7200.

 

 

 
Does the National Office have a toll-free number?

No. We do have a generic toll-free number for the District Offices, which is 1-800-AAU-4USA.
